Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to CodeGround, an interview-practice web application with coding workspaces, mock interviews, AI-assisted feedback, whiteboards, resume deep dives, progress tracking, and paid subscription plans. They are written for this product, not a generic marketplace or physical-goods store.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

1. Your Account

You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in credentials secure, and use CodeGround only for lawful interview preparation. You are responsible for activity under your account unless you tell us promptly that it has been compromised.

CodeGround is not intended for children under 13. If you are in a location that requires a higher digital-consent age, you may use CodeGround only if you meet that age or have appropriate parental or guardian permission.

2. What CodeGround Provides

CodeGround provides educational practice tools. AI-generated responses, scores, hints, transcripts, grading output, and resume questions can be incomplete or wrong. They are not professional, legal, hiring, immigration, or career advice, and we do not guarantee interview results, job offers, compensation, or admissions outcomes.

You keep ownership of code, notes, resumes, whiteboard content, and other material you submit. You give us permission to process that material to operate, secure, support, improve, and bill for CodeGround, including by sending relevant prompts, code, transcripts, resume text, whiteboard snapshots, or usage events to service providers described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Subscriptions, Renewal, and Payment

Paid plans are subscription services. Before checkout, we show the selected plan, billing interval, recurring price, and material usage limits or access qualifiers. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges through Stripe for the plan and interval you select until you cancel or the subscription otherwise ends.

Monthly subscriptions renew monthly until canceled. Taxes may be calculated and collected by Stripe where applicable. Stripe processes payment card details; CodeGround does not store full card numbers.

You must cancel before the next renewal date to avoid the next charge. You can manage invoices, payment methods, and cancellation from Billing when signed in. If Stripe retries failed payments, access may be limited, suspended, or cancelled according to your subscription status.

If you change from one paid plan to another during a billing period, the change may be handled as an upgrade or downgrade based on the recurring price of the selected plan. For an upgrade during the current billing period, you authorize us to charge the positive price difference between your current paid plan and the upgraded paid plan at the time of the change, without resetting the billing period. Your current usage counters are not reset by the upgrade; your applicable plan limits increase for the remainder of the current billing period, and previously used usage continues to count against the upgraded plan limits.

For a downgrade during the current billing period, the lower plan is scheduled to take effect at the end of the current paid billing period unless the product states otherwise. Your current paid plan and limits continue until that date, and the lower recurring price applies on the next billing period after the downgrade takes effect. You may undo a scheduled downgrade from Billing before it takes effect, in which case your current plan remains in place and renews normally unless you separately cancel or make another plan change.

4. Cancellation and Refund Policy

You may cancel a subscription at any time through Billing when signed in. Unless the product expressly shows an immediate cancellation or applicable law requires otherwise, cancellation is scheduled for the end of your current paid billing period: your paid-plan access continues through the date displayed in Billing and your account then moves to the free plan. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically refund charges already paid or provide prorated credits for the current billing period.

If something went wrong, use the refund request flow in Billing or contact us at codegroundsupport@gmail.com. We review refund requests based on account status, billing history, service usage, technical issues, duplicate charges, and legal requirements. Except where required by applicable law, refunds are discretionary and we may approve, deny, or partially approve a request. A scheduled downgrade does not automatically create a refund or prorated credit for the current billing period. Refund eligibility may be reduced or denied for substantial use of metered or provider-backed features, abuse indicators, chargeback activity, or repeated refund requests.

5. Usage Limits and Fair Use

Plans may include limits for interview minutes, AI assistance, submissions, resume deep dives, voice usage, token usage, provider cost, or other features. Limits may be hourly, daily, monthly, lifetime, or otherwise shown in the product. We may throttle, block, or require an upgrade when limits are reached.

Plan changes do not erase past usage. If you upgrade, your existing usage remains recorded and counts against the upgraded limits for the applicable window. If you downgrade at renewal, the lower plan limits apply when the next billing period begins. Usage windows reset only according to the relevant limit window shown in the product, not merely because you changed plans.

A label such as "Full Access" or "Unlimited" does not promise unlimited consumption. For a feature described that way, it means there is no published per-message allowance for that feature under the selected plan, unless we state otherwise. All access remains subject to applicable rate limits, fair-use and abuse controls, safety restrictions, technical and provider availability, and provider token, spend, capacity, or similar operational caps.

AI and voice features depend on paid third-party provider resources. If a provider cap, spend cap, token cap, capacity constraint, security control, or other applicable limit is reached, we may slow, pause, or deny those features, including during a paid billing period, without treating the plan as a promise of unbounded usage. Access may resume when the applicable limit resets or the restriction is otherwise resolved.

You may not abuse the service, bypass limits, scrape private data, attack the platform, share paid access broadly, submit malware, use automated high-volume requests, infringe rights, or use CodeGround to generate or store unlawful content. You may not use AI or voice features to facilitate unlawful discrimination, fraud, deceptive impersonation, harm, or violations of another person's rights. You may not access or use the Service in violation of applicable export-control, economic sanctions, or trade-restriction laws.

6. Suspension and Termination

We may limit, suspend, or terminate your access immediately if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, committed fraud or abuse, created a security or legal risk, failed to pay amounts due, initiated an abusive payment dispute, or engaged in conduct that may harm CodeGround, its providers, or other users. For a termination or suspension for cause, access to free and paid features may end immediately, even if a paid billing period otherwise remains.

Cancellation or termination does not erase amounts already due, refund prior payments, or prevent us from keeping records needed for billing, tax, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Your saved code, notes, submissions, reports, resume context, and other stored data may remain stored after access ends in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You may contact us to request access, export, or deletion where applicable; a suspended or terminated account may not be able to retrieve data through the product interface.

7. Disputes, Chargebacks, and Records

Please contact us before filing a payment dispute so we can investigate and, where appropriate, cancel or refund through normal support channels. If a chargeback or payment dispute occurs, you authorize us to provide Stripe, card networks, banks, and payment processors relevant evidence, which may include account identifiers, billing records, subscription status, cancellation history, acceptance of these Terms and the Privacy Policy, checkout timestamps, IP/device metadata, invoices, refund requests, and service-usage records.

8. Availability and Changes

CodeGround may change over time. We may add, remove, or modify features, plans, limits, models, providers, pricing, and content. We try to keep the service reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will apply prospectively unless a change is needed for legal, security, or operational reasons. We may notify you of material changes by email to the address associated with your account, an in-product notice, or by posting updated Terms and changing the effective date above. Where applicable law requires advance notice or renewed consent, we will provide it. Otherwise, continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Disclaimers and Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI output, scoring, voice features, generated questions, or other content will be accurate, complete, available, secure, or suitable for an interview or employment decision.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CodeGround is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, lost data, employment outcomes, or reliance on AI-generated output. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid CodeGround for the Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or $100. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

10. Contact
